This is my fixed walk of approximately one kilometre through Leuven’s Botanical Garden, the ‘Kruidtuin’. I filmed it on the morning of Palm Sunday 2020, with Belgium being, like most of the other countries in the world, in a ’COVID-19’ lockdown. (‘Stay at home, but do take a walk from time to time — avoiding physical contact with, and keeping your distance from whomever you might encounter.’) I live about 450 metres from the back entrance to the Kruidtuin, so this is a very familiar walk to me, as I do this hundreds of times per year. It’s the same walk, but never the same walk. It’s highly enjoyable. And useful too: I think it’s the best way to think about things. 

Dit is mijn vaste wandeling van ongeveer één kilometer door de Leuvense Kruidtuin. Ik filmde dit op de ochtend van Palmzondag 2020, tijdens de Belgische (en min of meer wereldwijde) ‘COVID-19’-lockdown. (‘Blijf thuis, maar kom af en toe ook eens buiten. Vermijd fysiek contact met, en hou je afstand van, eender wie je zou ontmoeten.’) Ik woon op ongeveer 450 meter van de achteringang van de Kruidtuin. Ik ken deze wandeling zeer goed, aangezien ik dit honderden keer per jaar doe. Het is altijd dezelfde wandeling, en nooit dezelfde wandeling. Erg aangenaam. En ook nuttig: ik vind het de beste manier om over dingen na te denken.
